I purchased Mrs. Thistlethwaite and the Magpie and couldn't wait to start reading it. The fact that the main charcters were senior citizens intrigued me. The story didn't disappoint me in any way.
The character of Mrs. Thistlethwaite was fun loving, smart as a whip, and had an instinct for solving mysteries. The authors insight into her characters was refreshing and they were well developed. Mrs. T's sidekick, Slim, was a joker, but very caring as well and was a great addition.
The missing girl, Honora, showed great faith, courage, and leaned on God for hope in her situation. I so, enjoyed the spiritual element to the story. The authors descriptions of the setting of the town of Tillamook made me feel like I was living the story with them. Even the dark side of the story was well written, without going into explicit detail.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a clean, wholesome Christian mystery.
